Burger King Announcement of the Day: Burger King said today that it will begin buying eggs only from farms that don’t cage their hens — and similarly, pork only from producers that don’t use gestation stalls to confine sows — with a plan to complete the transition by 2017. The decision is the first of its kind by a global fast food industry giant, and comes amid recent undercover investigations by animal rights activists and concessions from major companies.
“So many tens of thousands of animals will now be in better living conditions,” said Wayne Pacelle, president of the Humane Society of the United States. “Numerically this is significant because Burger King is such a big purchaser of these products.”

I tried making kale chips just now.  I put them in for even less time by a bunch from what the recipe called for, and yet they still basically all turned out burnt.  Some were salvageable, so I ate about half of them anyway.  Actually pretty good with the nutritional yeast and sea salt on top.  Next time I’ll take pictures when they’re more green and less burnt.  I think a lower heat and slightly less time still will do it.

Dinner experiment. First time cooking quinoa.  Did it with vegetable broth and added in sauteed onions, carrots, celery, pepitos, tomatoes, some chickpeas, some sweet green peppers, and then some dried basil, garlic powder, tobasco, soy sauce…i think that’s it.  Actually turned out very tasty.  (Taken with instagram)
